    sooooooo slow.......

I have a fast computer with lots of memory and a fast 2.0 usb dedicated port. BUT this is the slowest software in the universe and Im ready to send it back after only 6 hours. Besides that it is a memory hog ! I also hate that after you shut it down and come back you have to do the where are my folders thingy just to find all your stuff. I have gotten hung up 3 times tonight while it was doing something and had to do a hard shutdown just to get out of " not responding " error. This program uses more memory than all the programs on my entire computer together !

    Re: sooooooo slow.......

NeatReceipts is a powerful program and it does a lot of work.  I drives the Microsoft SQL Server and takes a hefty chunk of CPU overhead to perform the OCR with the accuracy that it has.

I have a DELL D820 laptop, about 1 yr old.  I have it maxed out at 4GB of RAM (although Windows XP can't utilize all of that memory).  I regularly have 2GB of memory in use by applications (Outlook, Word documents, PDF documents, instant messaging, antivirus/firewall, usually about 70 to 90 processes running at any given time when viewing the Windows Task Manager).

NeatReceipts rarely takes more than 100 to 300MB of RAM -- doesn't really even make a dent compared to everything else.

Possibly it's time for a hardware upgrade on your end, or your frame of reference is not in perspective with this type of software?  Have you run other OCR scanning software, and does it perform better?  Does it organize your receipts and documents like NR?

Your system lockup problems are atypical -- contact NR support (support@neatreceipts.com) and they'll help you through that.  If you have an old Windows implementation, it is possible that the issue is not within NR, but with other components of Windows itself.  .

I've used NR for several years now -- a very satisfied customer.  I have posted suggestions, but overall I'm satisfied and again I think your experience is atypical.
